I finished!

Sorry it's been so long since my last blog, but hey, life's busy... you understand don't you? I thought I would at least bring you up to speed on a project I told you about earlier. My friend Jo. who got married earlier this year, had a 40th birthday party recently. So I made this my deadline to finish her wedding present - a patchwork quilt. You can see in the photos that I also made a couple of cushions to match. It was quite a challenge to sew with the help of my frisky feline friend. Time was certainly at a premium and I was still hand stitching the binding as we drove to the party. But the end result was very satisfying and Jo and Steve seemed pleased too.

Steve and Jo's Quilt

I have just started a quilt for my friends Steve and Jo. They got married about six weeks ago, this will be a late wedding gift! Oops! Anyway I'm sure they will forgive me. I saw this pattern on the moda bake website and loved it instantly. Jo's favourite colour is blue, so I picked lots of blue fabrics for the centres and some greens. I'm hoping to sew together the blocks today and then try to pick some fabric for boarders. Here's a photo of the centres and first finished block. It's not flannel but I do still love it.

Last week I made a quick laptop cover for my daugther Emily. Hopefully it will protect her computer a bit.

I also made this little baby flannel quilt as my mum had brought a pack of flannel squares. This was such a quick quilt as the fabric was already cut.

Sally's Wedding Flowers

Last saturday my beautiful friend Sally got married. She was blessed with a sunny day which was important as it was an outdoor service. The whole day went so well, Sally looked so gorgeous. I made her bouquet of red and yellow roses, the buttonholes and corsages. Although I only took photos of Sally's bouquet, silly me. It was really nice to do some flower arranging again. God has made so many beautiful flowers it is just lovely to be surrounded with them. Thanks Sally for the opportunity to be a florist again!

Quilt for Tobias

I made Tobias a quilt last weekend. It is a flannel quilt made up of squares and quick ruffled edges. Mum and I dropped in to Derek and Jac's tonight to give them the quilt for their little man. They loved it! I was so pleased it went so well with the color of Tobias room and the jungle theme. This quilt really looked so much better after it was washed and put through the dryer check out the photos -

Owen's finished quilt

I finished Owen's quilt on the weekend. I adore working with flannel especially as the weather is getting cooler. Flannel is so easy to use and sews up so fast. I did this whole cot quilt over one weekend! Once it is sewn up and the edges cut, you just pop the quilt in the wash and dry it in a dryer to make the edges fluff up. I really love doing such quick projects although I must admit I didn't do any housework last weekend so my house is a disaster area.
I'm hoping to do another cot quilt for some friends who have just had a little boy called Tobias this coming weekend. The housework will just have to wait!
Happy sewing,

Amanda

Welcome to my first post!

Hard at Work

Hi readers, thanks for taking the time to visit my blog. It has been a tricky process just picking a name. All my good ideas were already taken..... "The Preacher's Daughter", "Piece on Earth", "Feed Dogs Down".... now I'll have to go and visit all these sites to check them out! I'm currenly working on Owen's quilt. This quilt is a cot quilt made up of flannel squares. It is a fast method and has an old fashioned look about it. Hopefully Owen will be snug and warm. Here's a couple of pictures, hopefully I'll be finished this afternoon.
